Just a few steps from the Baltic Sea coast, nestled within seaside meadows, the story of Peace Harbour for holidays has been created— a property renovation, and the crafting of an aesthetically functional living space, all done with deep respect and sensitivity to the surrounding seascape.
The garden design is based on an improvisation of a traditional Latvian fisherman's homestead, interacting with the natural coastal landscape, modern architecture, and the needs of contemporary life. The result is a modern, tasteful garden that harmonizes with its surroundings and complements the building complex. The garden’s main asset is its proximity to the sea and the beautiful sightlines toward the water.
The garden borrows its spatial layout from the traditional Latvian homestead. At its heart is a central courtyard, around which the buildings and various mood zones are arranged: the Main House and front garden, a sauna garden, a terrace with a sea view, a meadow with fruit trees, and a pavilion for celebrating life. Neatly paved paths and stabilized gravel areas for car access symbolically reflect the well-trodden, functional path network typical of Latvian homesteads. In the courtyard center stands a linden tree, symbolizing family and a peaceful atmosphere filled with quiet happiness. Close to the buildings are rich plantings, including the owner’s favorite flower beds, while the property is enclosed by a vertical wooden beam fence.
In this garden, the interplay of geometric and fluid forms creates a dynamic contrast. Geometric shapes enhance the modern architectural lines of the building, while organic curves seamlessly integrate the garden with the surrounding coastal landscape and meadows.
A standout feature is the sea-view terrace, perfect for savoring summer sunsets with a cup of tea and loved ones. A small lawn extends from the terrace, blending into the natural coastal meadow. On chillier, windier days, a nearby glass-enclosed pavilion offers a cozy retreat.
Reflecting ancient traditions where the sauna was revered as a sanctuary, this garden has thoughtfully incorporated a relaxing terrace around the sauna, surrounded by beds of aromatic herbs and plants. These herbs not only enhance sauna rituals but also add flavor to delightful meals.
The property has been seamlessly transformed into a stylish and functional living space, harmonizing both indoor and outdoor areas. The garden, known as a HAVEN OF PEACE FOR HOLIDAYS, offers a serene retreat that draws inspiration from traditional practices and the nearby Baltic Sea.
